Featuring Godboogie!
Now in its 9th year, Beat the Winter Blues is an amazing night of music for the whole family. Opening with our own Right Reverend Blues Band, this year
s performance headlines with Godboogie featuring harmonica phenom and vocalist Jerome Godboo. Jerome brings with him Shawn Kellerman, Gary Craig and JK for an incredible performance in support of the free meal and community programs provided by The Life Centre.

Jerome Godboo

Jerome’s bending harp skills continue to mesmerize all who witness him onstage, including the judges at the International Blues Challenge 2014 in Memphis where he took home the Best Harmonica Player Award. His talents have been sought by the likes of Ronnie HawkinsPrince (who asked Jerome to join his band!) and Jeff Healey, who covers two of Jerome’s songs on his latest (posthumous) release.

JK has 3 Junos and lots of platinum albums and has worked, recorded and toured with: The James Brown Band, Christina Aguilera, ‘NSYNC, Nelly Furtado, Jacksoul, Ashley MacIsaac, Beyonce, Andy Kim, Soul Decision, Don Felder, Alex Lifeson, Kim Mitchell, Ron Sexsmith, The Philosopher Kings, Snow, The Colour of Soul, Colin James, Chantal Kreviazuk, Blaxam, Simon Wilcox, The A Team, Mark McLean, Divine Brown, James Bryan, Matt Dusk, Justin Hines, Esthero, Lester McLean, Fefe Dobson, John Allan Cameron, Adrian X and The Kontinentals.

Shawn Kellerman

He has been nominated for the Maple Blues Award’s “Guitar Player of the Year” and won a Blues Music Award in Memphis for playing on the “Best Acoustic CD of the Year”.  Since 2012 he has been touring in The Lucky Peterson Bandfull time, helping to produce his albums as well as Godboogie’s new release. Shawn and Jerome have been musical brothers for over 10 years, which has helped to develop the sound of this exciting new band.

Gary Craig

Gary Craig is often on the road recording and performing with the likes of Anne Murray, Tom Cochrane, The Rankin Family, Jann Arden, Blackie and The Rodeo Kings, Marc Jordan, John McDermott, Kathleen Edwards or Gregory Hoskins. Playing and working hard, picking and choosing who he wants to work with. More recently, Gary has been touring with Bruce Cockburn and accompanying the stars of the ABC network television series Nashville. All in a day’s work for the backbone who keeps the wildmen of Godboogie on the straight and narrow.

About Us

The Life Centre operates as a ministry of Royal City Church in Guelph, On.

Many local churches, businesses and individuals partner with the Life Centre to make its programs possible.  Some donate funds, others food and others volunteer their time and energy. Each one of these partners is essential to the day to day operations and care given to our guests.

Each week, approx 70 volunteers prepare and serve food, clean the kitchen, wash dishes, serve coffee, play euchre, ping pong, teach art, play music and build community with our guests and each other.

We believe in intentionally building, fostering and deepening our relationships with God, our guests, the local church and the greater community.  We strive to love God and love others in all aspects of the Life Center happenings.  Relationships help to transform lives.

We strive towards the Biblical principal of justice, meaning  'right relationship'.  Despite life choices, all are treated with unconditional love.
We call on God's direction on how to stand with the marginalized, and remove the yoke of injustice.

Seeking to see through the eyes of God, we acknowledge beauty in brokenness and strive to be creative in our love.
